1. Sporting made it to the playoffs! It has been a rough couple of years, and things were dicey again this weekend. Once we got Alan Pulido back on the field earlier this season, things turned around (after we lost like the first 10 games, something that announcers love to bring up at least once every game since). Going into Decision Day, we had to win or it was over. But that wasn’t all. Someone else had to lose in order to get us above the line. We were playing Minnesota United (“the nicest rivalry in the league”—but not, but it is at least a real rivalry unlike the one the league invented this year against us and St. Louis), and the game started slowly. I wasn’t sure how it was going to go. But then Johnny Russell scored once, and three minutes later our French midfielder Remi Walter found the back of the net. And almost as exciting, Houston was beating Portland. Johnny scored again, and then Minnesota scored, but they couldn’t catch up. We won 3-1. Houston won 3-1 over Portland, and just like that, we’re in the playoffs. The wildcard match against San Jose is Wednesday, and again we have to win to stay in. But what a ride! So proud of these guys!

2. It’s birthday week for my boyfriend, so he’s getting to spend time with out-of-town friends, being bourboned and dined (he’s not a wine guy), and I am glad he’s getting a chance to take some time off work and hang out with friends. He deserves it and so much more. He is the best person I know, and I hope has has the best birthday week ever!

3. Gorgeous fall weather! It’s really lovely out these days. Still maybe a little warm, but sunny and mild. I don’t even mind the little bit of rain we’ve been getting. And I’m not the only one who loves the sunshine. Earlier, he was on his job as neighborhood watch and soaking up his sunshine at the same time.
