1. It’s time! Husker football has begun! That means fall is just around the corner, right? It may not have been the best outcome, but I thought they looked okay. And at least it wasn’t a home game. The first home game will be a treat, especially when they score and those red balloons take flight.

2. Beautiful mornings with lovely blue skies. For a couple of weeks now, when I go to work in the morning, the sky has been a lovely shade of blue, hardly any clouds, just blue. It’s a shade of blue that reminds me of being in my 20s and going on a trip to England. We expected two weeks of rain, but instead got the most amazingly gorgeous weather, with blue skies that seemed to go on forever. Walking in to work these days, those skies are a lovely reminder that there is more to the world than my dreary job and the restrictions on us with this pandemic. It will pass, and things will open up again, and in the meantime, there is still beauty.

3. My birthday is coming up this week, and the presents are already rolling in. My boyfriend got me the entire series of Sharknado movies, on Blu-Ray, and a cozy mystery written by a podcaster we listen to (Dead by Deadline, Lara Bricker, Crime Writers on podcast). And my mother got me a bread cookbook, some Billy Joel Live at Shea Stadium, and a stuffed Shaun the Sheep (Dave the Minion we’ve had for ages, but he’s helping Shaun get situated). Happy birthday to me!
