1. My boyfriend bought himself a retro arcade panel that plugs into the television and plays hundreds of games. If you are someone who grew up spending time in the arcade or with an early home gaming system, then your game is on here. He found a bunch of games he played as a kid and pulled up to play again. I tried a little Ms. Pac-Man. We found a weird, hilarious game called Baseball Ninja Batman. Some friends came over to hang out with us, so we had an evening of retro gaming, pizza, popcorn, and cookies. So much fun!
2. The new season of The Great British Baking Show hits Netflix next Friday! Bring on the soggy bottoms! We need more Paul Hollywood these days! But the real question is this: do we start watching the new season right away, or do we let several build up and binge watch? With the election coming up, maybe we should just put them all on a loop and watch nothing else until December! (Except soccer, of course. I’m not insane! Oh, and football, now that Nebraska will have a fall season. Go Huskers!! And Dead Pixels on the CW, because it’s insanely hilarious, and we need more of that too.)
3. It’s starting to feel like fall. The extreme heat has moved on (although saying that, I may have jinxed it). But the days are getting shorter. Soon the leaves will be falling. And I’m ready for that big flavor, long braise kind of winter weekend meals like short ribs and pot roasts. For tonight, it’s chicken pot pie. Homemade! (Although it’s been a stressful month at work, so I did cheat and buy the pie crust). Is it dinner time yet?!
