1. The election is Tuesday. I have not voted early, because our polling place is the clubhouse located right behind our townhouse. It will take me less time to walk over to vote than it will take me to walk into my office from where I park. But mostly I am looking forward to an end to all the political commercials. Living in Kansas City, we get all the ads for both the Kansas and Missouri elections, and this year they have been particularly nasty. I want them all gone so I can instead roll my eyes at all the Christmas commercials they are already playing.

2. After getting several inches of snow last week, the weather has gone back to sunny and warm. It’ supposed to be in the 60s all week, maybe even popping back up into the 70s. I’m not thrilled about the warmer temperatures, but all the beautiful sunshine does show off the glory of a Midwestern autumn. The colors of the trees, the crunchy leaves underfoot, the fall flowers like mums and marigolds—they are shine brighter with the blue skies of these warmer temperatures. But I will be okay when we get back to that flannel shirt weather. I do love the flannel!

3. Time off from work. I am very grateful to have a job, especially in this crazy year where so many don’t. But with the shutdowns and staying-in of 2020, I have more personal and vacation time left over at the end of the year. (I also got another year of vacation at work this year, based on how many years I’ve been there, so that helped too). So I took last Friday afternoon off, and I’m taking this Wednesday off, with no real agenda. I can just hang out at home and read and listen to podcasts or watch tv or just sit and watch this guy sleep. Because he is adorable!
