welp, I didn’t get much done last week. We had a lot of tight work deadlines, and sadly, we have more this week. I am getting some reading done. I just don’t have any brain cells left to write them up. We’ll see how this week goes.

just finished: Paul Rudnick’s The Tuxedo Society. Gays as international spies. It’s amazing and so, so funny! That scene where the Jewish guy dressed up as a Catholic priest will live in my head for a long time. I was in tears.

I also just finished It Happened One Murder, about a woman whose stepfather was killed at her birthday party (it’s okay—he wasn’t a good guy). But one of the exes is the son of the caterer (and his sister was found over the dead man, who had her chef’s knife in his chest), and her other ex is the detective on the case. This one is a little crazy, but it’s good.

And last week I finished The Break-Up Retreat, which took a turn. I thought it was going to be culty (and it was, a little), but then it became almost straight-up alone in the woods horror. Good book. but definitely on the dark side.

currently reading: Beach Thriller by Jamie Day. A woman moves back to her hometown, a beach town, to figure out a new book to write, and she ends up writing about (and learning more about) her a dark time in her past. This one’s got some creepy vibes, so we’ll see where it goes.

up next: Abby Offsides, a soccer rom com. A woman leaves her cheating fiance and moves to the UK, where she becomes a soccer fan. And that leads to a new life and new love. Also new bangs, which is not always a good idea, especially right after a breakup. But I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt on that. I wonder if reading this will finally help me understand the offside rule? I get the basics, but there are nuances to the rule that still elude me.
