What a week! We’ve hit the busy time at work again, and since we lost Monday (not complaining about that!), it was a struggle to get everything done. We’re actually still at that point. But we’ll keep pushing through.
just finished: cleaning out the storage unit, so I have pain and very little ability to make words. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
currently reading: I have been listening to the new Katherine Center, The Shippers. It’s fantastic. It’s a big scoop of summer reading covered in whipped cream and sprinkles. It is just a delight to listen to, and I can’t wait to finish it.
I’m also reading a new cookbook, out this Tuesday. Claudette Zepeda grew up crossing the California-Mexico border every day of her childhood, and she’s here to bring those flavors to those of us who didn’t get that chance. This cookbook is full of soul and flavor. If you’re a fan of spicy dishes or a fan of Zepeda from her appearances on Food Network, then be sure to add this one to your list.
Also out this week is Big Baby by Kevin James Thornton. He’s made a name for himself on social media for his autotuned videos about growing up in his evangelical church in the ‘90s. This is his story. And thought I’ve heard it many times on social media, I'm hoping my favorite story finds its way into this book: heathen keyboard.
up next: sleep. Sleep and more sleep. I need to recover from this weekend. And then, ummm, more books? Oh wait, I know. We are hours away from June, so it’s obvious what’s next. Summer reading!
