just finished: new Anthony Horowitz, A Deadly Episode. Hawthorne is back, and this time a film company is making a movie about the first book Horowitz wrote about Hawthorne. But when the actor playing Hawthorne gets murdered, was he the Hawthorne that the killer was targeting, or was it the actual man? I love these books, and this one was a lot of fun. As a bonus, we got to revisit the first murder Hawthorne was called in to help with. There is a shortened version of that mystery, and I’m starting to think that Horowitz (the real one) just can’t help himself from telling two stories at once. This one comes out at the end of the month, so watch for it then.

currently reading: I started reading Dog Person, out this week, but Camille Pagan. It’s lovely, but it’s also sad. It’s told from the dog’s point of view, and his female owner has passed away, and he’s trying to get his male owner to get back into life. I admit I’m overly emotional these days, what with all the things happening in the world, so I’m struggling to not leak some tears with this story. But it’s also lovely and so sweet.

I’m also reading Pomona Afton Can Totally Catch a Killer. Pomona is the daughter of a hotel magnate, and most people think she’s too privileged to solve a murder. But she did it once already, and she’s ready to do it again, especially to keep her new non-profit on track. I love this character, and I’m looking forward to her new adventures. This one is out next week.

I’m also listening to A Killer in the Family, also out this week. There is a family-arranged marriage (not a must, just a strong push), a missing sister, and lots of secrets. This will be a crazy thriller.

I’m also still reading The Best Little Motel in Texas, and trying to figure out how to talk about it in a way that the more uptight review sites will allow, lol.

up next: ya, I have no idea. But last week I read and reviewed the new Jenny Lawson, How to Be Okay When Nothing Is Okay, and it was so lovely that I wanted a signed copy of my own. I ordered it through Lawson’s bookstore, Nowhere Bookshop, in San Antonio, Texas, and they got it to me in a few days. Because it had just come out and Lawson was out on book tour, I wasn’t able to get it customized, just signed. But I also got stickers and a bookmark. So I am a happy bookster.
