wow, last week was rough. We were up against rough deadlines at work (hit most of them), and then we went out of town for a few days. I was so tired I had no words. This week will still be busy at work, but I have a stack of cookbooks to talk about, so I am hoping to find words.

just finished: I did finish Benjamin Stevenson’s Everyone in This Bank Is a Thief, which is fantastic. Highly recommend!

currently reading: new Luke Barr! The author of Provence, 1970 and Ritz & Escoffier is back with The Secret History of French Cooking. Oooh, if you’re a nerd for culinary history, you will love this one like I do. It’s all about the French Chefs of the 1960s and ‘70s who modernized French cooking and spread the word. There were male chefs back then who were getting Michelin stars and attracting the celebrities and the wealthy, but there were also female chefs who were cooking exceptional food, and he tells the stories of all of them. If you haven’t read any Like Barr yet, you should know he writes non-fiction in stories, so you are transported to the times and places he writes about. His work is well researched and beautifully written. I am a big fan of anything he writes.

up next: this beauty, Hello, Home Cooking!
