I keep thinking this will be the weekend that I finally get my bookness organized. I thought that about this weekend. I thought it about last weekend. I thought it about the weekend before last. I have still not accomplished it. Maybe next weekend?

So this weekend, I’ve been listening to the audio book of Paper Cuts. This book is crazy! A woman, a daughter of a famous photographer and sister to a literal rock star, has become a darling in the true crime realm. She had been in a cult and something huge happened. She was (I think?) the only survivor, and she wrote a memoir about what happened. Now it’s coming up on the 20 year anniversary of the original printing of her book. But here’s the thing. The bodies of the other cult members were never recovered. So she’s always had trolls who believed she made the whole thing up. And now, along with the new version of the book, a documentarian wants to revisit her story. And she’s starting to feel like he doesn’t believe her either and he’s trying to prove she lied about her entire story. There is a lot going on here, including gooseberry doughnuts, and I am just waiting to find out what happens. This is a sophisticated thriller, and so much fun. But after this, I’m thinking I need some fluff, so I will choosing a rom com or two as a follow-up.

By the way, watch out for a lot of ice skating books coming your way soon. The Olympics have inspired several different writers to pull out their ice skates, so if that sounds awesome to you, then check out your favorite bookseller or library and stock up. Maybe for the next winter Olympics, we can get some curling rom coms.
