just finished: A Serving of Hope, the latest in the Kamogawa Food Detectives series. I love these books. They are so sweet and hopeful, and I definitely needed the warmth they were serving me this week.

I’m still reading Carla Lalli’s new cookbook Food Is a Feeling. It feels like a memoir where she throws in a recipe here and there. She makes herself so vulnerable sharing al this, and I feel honored as a reader that she’s willing to put so much of herself out there. It’s humbling to read this book but also lovely and encouraging.

I’m also listening to My Inner Child Wants to Kill, the second book in the series that started with Murder Mindfully. Like the first one, it’s a little dark, but if you like your humor black, then this might be the series for you. Personally, I’m having a ball with it.

up next: If you’re a Bobby Flay fan and watching his series Triple Threat, then you have been introduced to Ayesha Nurdjaja. She is a New York chef who specializes in Mediterranean food, and Mediterranean All the Way is her first cookbook. I think I first came to know who she was as a judge on Beat Bobby Flay, as she shows up there often. The thing that struck me about her is how other people talk about the food at her restaurants. She serves the kind of food that experienced chefs want to eat, and I can’t think of a greater compliment than that. This one hits stores October 20. Personally, I can’t wait to jump in and learn some of her secrets.
