Well, it was another difficult week. Too much work, too many sinus infections, too little sleep. But this week should be, well, just more of the same. I mean, I am hoping for fewer sinus infections. But the upper respiratory infection has gotten worse, so it feels like it evens out somehow? That is, if you were to ask me if I’m feeling better after a long weekend with lots of sofa time, I’d say meh. But eventually I’ll get past the upper respiratory gunk and the sinus irritations and breathe again. But this week is also going to be a bear at work, so I will do what I can here and try to breathe.
just finished: For the Record, new Emma Lord. And it’s amazing. I listened to the audio, which I highly recommend if you are an audio book person. Either way, it’s a fantastic book. If you are a fan of Emma Lord, you won’t want to miss this one.
currently reading: I am reading Julie Chen is Dead, which is so good. Julie Chen is a woman who works at a grocery store. She has had to fight for everything in life. She was raised by an aunt who didn’t want her. Meanwhile, her twin sister was adopted by rich parents, sent to the best schools, and now she’s an influencer who makes tens of thousands of dollars for a single post. Julie is barely in touch with her, but she does pay attention to her feeds. And when she doesn’t post for several days, Julie gets worried. She tracks down her sister and finds her in her apartment, dead from an overdose. Julie calls the police and makes the split second decision to switch identities with her. She steps into her sister’s life, knowing very little about it. And then things get crazy. This one is a lot of fun! I’m about a third of the way through, but I would definitely recommend this one.
I’m also listening to Mean Moms, about a group of moms whose kids all go to the same private school in New York City. But when a mom relocates from Miami and tries to make friends with the other moms, bad things start happening. I need to find some time to finish it, because I definitely want to know what happens to these moms.
up next: well, me trying to e get caught up from a difficult August? But here are some things to keep in mind. Out later in September: Clown Town from Mick Herron, the latest in the Slough House series (or if you’re watching on Apple TV, the Slow Horses series. And there is another season releasing soon, so get ready for Jackson Lamb and his fart-filled conversations). And in October, The Black Wolf, the latest in Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache series.
