So last week was a slow one again, but we’re almost past the basement drama. We’re exhausted, but we’re getting there.
August is a great month for books. I started listening to the latest Donna Andrews, For Duck’s Sake today. It’s out Tuesday, and you will want to grab a copy if you’re a fan of these bird-named mysteries. In this one, Meg’s brother and sister-in-law are digging a duck pond when a skeleton is uncovered. At the same time, Meg’s farm is home to over 300 dogs while the town gets ready for a big adoption event. But there are rumors that dogfighters may show up to try to adopt (or steal) some of the dogs to use to train their dogs, so Meg has to make sure everyone is paying attention there too. While she begged off from helping with the dogs (aside from letting them stay at her farm), her mother is in charge of the whole thing. Her father is the medical examiner working with the police on the skeleton, and Meg is bouncing back and forth between both. I love these characters, and I can’t wait to see what all happens in this book #37(!) in the Meg Langslow series.
I’m almost finished with the latest Cat in the Stacks mystery from Miranda James. Charlie and his bride Helen Louise go to Ireland for their honeymoon for Charlie to meet Helen Louise’s extended family. Their cat Diesel got to go with them, but before they can meet the family’s patriarch, he is thrown from the top of a building. Charlie starts to investigate, but it’s clear that he and Diesel are in danger. They need to solve the case quickly, perhaps with some help from the resident ghost cat, or they may not make it back home.
I’m also still reading The Influencers, which just gets crazier. It’s like a murder happened to a man who married into the Kardashians, and the internet fans are the ones desperately trying to figure out who did it. It is banana pants, and I am having so much fun with this book.
up next: Zom Rom Com. Is it 28 Days? It is 28 Days Later? It’s a rom com, with zombies. If you’re a fan of either, or both, then watch for this one Tuesday.
