Ah, last week was not great for me. I had a couple of recent Amazon reviews pulled and another one they wouldn’t post. I let it get in my head, and with all the other noise in there, I had a few days where I was rethinking everything about my life. But I got some sleep and wrote another review or two, and I haven’t noticed any more issues. So I am trying to set aside my insecurities and overthinkings and just focus on the books.
currently reading: I am still reading I’ll Love You Forever, which has a lot to it actually. I read an essay this morning about plastic surgery and it really got me thinking. This author, Giaae Kwon, is thoughtful and intelligent and well-informed about K-pop, and she isn’t afraid to go after a difficult topic. Again I’m going to say this: you do not have to be a K-pop superfan to get something from this book. I have learned so much about Korean culture and history through these essays, and it’s all fascinating.
I’m also reading A Proposal to Die For, and it only took me a couple of pages to fall in love with this book. I was reluctant. I love a good book cover, and I think this one does not do this book justice. It’s about Jess, a woman who helps set up the perfect proposal, complete with photos for the happy couple, in Nashville. And she gets roped into the engagement of friends—well, acquaintances really—from college. Diana and her wealthy boyfriend need help creating a proposal and wedding plan that will fit into Diana’s influencer lifestyle, or the influencer lifestyle Diana is hoping for. But when a pre-wedding weekend starts to go wrong, Jess finds herself having to solve a murder or two also. This one is super fun! Keep it in mind for an early summer read.
Also out this week is the new Jennifer Weiner and the next in the Maid series, so there are lots of good books out this week. Maybe it’s a good time to pass on Easter eggs and get Easter books instead? Or both. Both works too.
