Last week got a little crazy at the end. There were friends in town, so my boyfriend left me on my own Thursday night (which turned into a dinner of bad decisions, a burrito with sauce so spicy my stomach was off for a couple of days) and then a short hospital stay for his mother. She’s back home and okay for the moment, but a doctor’s appointment later this week may pave the way for another surgery. Meanwhile, at work, we’re heading back into deadlines. But I need to keep reading. It keeps me sane.

just finished: Ellie Hayes and the Himbos audio book. I wasn’t sure what to think of this book, as the title has the word “himbos” in it. But I loved it. I loved this book so much, and I will say a lot more about it soon.

currently reading: Mint to Be, a YA rom com with a Christmas undertow. Two best friends haven’t spoken since one went to boarding school just as he was about to tell her he loves her. Now, she’s back for Christmas break with her new boyfriend, and it’s all family and lovable dog and awkwardness.

I’ve also started listening to A Mannequin for Christmas, the latest by Timothy Janovsky. If you ever saw the ‘80s movie Mannequin with Kim Cattrall and Anthony McCarthy, then you know why I wanted to read this book. And that’s pretty much the book, with the obvious addition of Christmas. It’s a lot of fun.

up next: out this week is Secret Lights and Northern Lights, which I’ve been looking forward to. A rom com set in Iceland. I can’t wait.
