well, here we are. The work stress is better. But the general stress of the country is high. It’s affecting me, but I am trying to unclench my jaw and think about books. There are a lot of books coming out this week, so get your TBRs ready!

just finished: The Killer Question by Janice Hallett. I’ve been a fan of hers for years, and this story is also amazing. It took some crazy turns that I did not see coming, which is what she does, but it’s such a ride. She is a storytelling genius!

I also finished listening to the audio book for Seven Reasons to Murder Your Dinner Guests, which was also a lot of fun. Very Agatha Christie, And Then There Were None. Seven people are invited to a mysterious dinner party and given a card that told them how old they would be when they die. And when the first person from the dinner party is killed in what looks like an accident, the other guests are intrigued. When a second guest dies, they start to get concerned. But they don’t even know who threw the dinner party, so how can they get more information about what’s going on? The story is so crazy, but it’s really good.

currently reading: Out this Tuesday, My Beloved by Jan Karon. Yes, we are back in Mitford, visiting with all the friends we’ve made through the years. I can’t tell you how much I needed this novel right now.

Also out this week, a newly packaged edition of We Are Legion (We Are Bob), so I’m rereading this one. I love this series, and I’m happy to spend time back in the Bobiverse.

I’m also listening to the new Ann Cleeves, The Killing Stones. Jimmy Perez (formerly of her Shetland series) has now settled in the Orkney islands with his partner Willow Reeves. And when Jimmy finds an old friend murdered, he is determined to figure out what happened.

up next: Christine Falls, the first book in a series about Dublin pathologist Quirke. This is not a new series, but it’s new to me and newly repackaged, so I’m looking forward to diving in.
