just finished: the third book in the Kamogawa Food Detectives series, Menu of Happiness. I love these books about a father/daughter team who run a diner and detective agency where they reunite clients with the foods they can’t forget. It’s all about food and our emotional connection to it and to the people in our lives.

currently reading: let’s talk cookbooks. Out this week is Dorie Greenspan’s Dorie’s Anytime Cakes. I love cakes, so this is the cookbook I’ve been waiting for. Also out on Tuesday is Joe Sasto’s Breaking the Rules. Fans of Food Network or Top Chef might recognize the pasta guy with the mustache, but I am always happy to talk pasta. (Speaking of, tomorrow night is a local signing by Lidia Bastianich of her latest Lidia’s The Art of Pasta, so I am very much looking forward to getting to see her in person again and learn all about her new cookbook, which came out last week.)

I’m also reading the new Agatha Raisin, Sugar and Spite. I love an Aggie book!

up next: out in a couple of weeks is The Powered by Protein Cookbook. I keep hearing about the importance of protein and how it can help you feel stronger. I look forward to getting some good tips and better recipes for adding more protein to my diet.
