blizzard buddies

Becca Fairfield is a strong, competent, independent woman who works as a house mother for a college sorority. She helps guide the young women to make good decisions and take care of each other. She is colorful and capable and relentlessly cheerful. And she’s alone for Christmas break.

Harrison Cooper is the football coach living next door to the sorority. After a bad season, and with his brother taking his college team to a bowl game, he is having an exceptionally challenging year. And now, there is a blizzard coming for Christmas.

When the power goes out in the neighborhood, Harrison makes his way around, checking on all the neighbors. But they all have generators or are already out of town for the holidays, all of them but one. Becca in the sorority house has no power and very little firewood. He feels like he has no choice but to invite her over to his house. He has no generator, but he has a good supply of firewood, enough to last several days, and with the bitterly low temperatures they’re predicting, he knows that Becca won’t survive in the house alone.

Becca doesn’t want to go with the grumpy coach, especially after what had happened two years ago. Becca had gone on a date with Harrison. She’d thought that the date had gone well, with a spectacular kiss afterward. But then he ghosted her. And she’d resented him ever since. But now, she had to move in to his house for a night, or maybe several days, in order to survive this storm.

But as they get to know each other, and lean into their mutual chemistry for heat, will the ice between them melt? Or will it harden into something they can’t break through?

Jaqueline Snowe’s Snowed in for Christmas is a delightful sunshine-meets-grumpy rom com with lots of heat for those cold winter nights. It’s sweet and charming, with fun surprises and plenty of steamy scenes to melt all that ice in a grumpy heart. Both of these characters are good to be snowed in with, so bring on the blizzard, or the sunshine by the pool, if you’d rather read it there.

I listened to the audio book for this one, with Becca being voiced by Hannah Church and Harrison being voiced by Liam Lambert. Both narrators bring these characters to life with pitch perfect performances, and together they tell a story of falling in love, surviving difficult circumstances, celebrating holidays, and becoming better people. Snowed in for Christmas can take a Grinch and make their heart grow three sizes. It can maybe even take a grump and turn them into sunshine.

A copy of the audio book for Snowed in for Christmas was provided by Forever, with many thanks.
