currently reading: I am reading a book for tomorrow that is absolutely bananas! It’s called I Told You This Would Happen, and it is insane. Carrie is a young woman whose sister, Becca, is dead. She thinks. The town’s notorious serial killer had sent Carrie a photo of her sister in which Becca looked dead. But she hasn’t seen the actual body of her sister, so Carrie can’t completely believe it. That sounds a little morbid, but you have to realize that Becca is a psychopath. She has been tormenting Carrie since she was a child and made Carrie help bury the bodies of the people she killed with her car. This book is funny and clearly dark, but it’s also so compelling! The story is crazy bananas, and I can’t wait to see where else it goes! And out this week, along with several amazing new cozies, is Long Story Short. This is a YA comedy about a home-schooled genius who wants to go to Oxford (the one in England, not Mississippi), but because she’s younger and less mature than her classmates will be, they want her to do spend time with the Connecticut Shakespearean Summer Academy. I’m not too far in yet, but I am loving the snark coming from Beatrice , and I look forward to where this goes, especially with her being named Beatrice and this being about Shakespeare. Love it!

Up next: out next week is the latest from Laurie Gelman, Smells Like Tween Spirit. I have loved these characters since her first, Class Mom. Jen Dixon is no longer a class mom, but she is a wrestling mom, and she is bringing all of her attitude, wisdom, and sarcasm for the middle school parents. And I didn’t get any new bookmail this week (except for my beautiful new copy of Bake by Paul Hollywood), but I did get this lovely little book as a gift, and it is just adorable! Thank you, DH!
