just finished: I was trying last week to finish Remember Me to talk about Friday, but I didn’t quite make it. It was a frustrating, exhausting week at work, and I had no words on Friday. And I hadn’t finished the book yet. So instead of trying to write something up when I was that tired, I just finished reading the book Friday and went to bed. March has been rough. But the god news is that this is the last chaotic week at work for a while, and Monday’s book is finished. I can’t wait to talk about Remember Me, but I’m not yet sure what to say about it. It’s bananas, with twists I did not see coming. It’s crazy, but it’s quite a ride!
currently reading: I just started a couple of books that come out this week. The Resting Place is new from Camilla Sten, and it’s a creepy thriller from Scandinavia. Eleanor has inherited a manor house she never even knew was in the family, They’ve just gone out to see it for the first time, and I think things are about to get crazy. Clearly, I haven’t gotten too far yet, but I already think this is going to be phenomenal. I’ve also just started Cheddar Off Dead, the first in a new cozy series set in a cheese shop. I love cheese! And there will be murder! What more could you want? And I’ve been listening to an audio gallery of Being Mary Bennet, about a high school senior who feels like Mary Bennet in a family filled with Lizzies and Janes (see Jane Austen if you’re needing the reference, Pride and Prejudice specifically). This is a fun book, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it all comes together.
up next: So the success of Bridgerton has brought out the historical romances with that comedic twist. Watch for many coming out this summer, like Reputation by Lex Croucher, who brings a Gossip Girl twist to her romance (out April 5) or Always Be My Duchess, which author Amalie Howard is giving a Pretty Woman spin on (out July 12). I can’t read them both! And I was thrilled to win this one from Goodreads, a memoir from author Delia Ephron about how she found love after the loss of her husband and her sister (also a great writer, Nora Ephron). I have been a Delia Ephron fan for years, and I can’t wait to get a peek into her life. This one is out in mid April.
