1. Work/life balance. I was anticipating a very difficult week last week. It was busy, and it was challenging, but it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. And I tried hard to keep some balance, and I felt so much better. I am just trying to stay grounded. To spend less money this year (until it's time to buy that new car). To focus on what I have and on those I love. To breathe. And that's how tomorrow's dinner is already done, just needing to be warmed up. The house is clean, laundry for the week is being washed right now, and I feel ready to take on another week. Life is good.
2. I am a fan of The Great Courses. Basically, some of the finest college educators put their intelligence into a video/audio format to share with everyone. And they have a lot of courses that I'm interested in. But here's the thing--they're not cheap, especially the video ones. But I noticed that there were some in Audible, so I searched. I found about 25 courses I want to listen to available there, all for my $15 a month credit. Ca-ching! By the end of 2018, I will be so much better at all the things and the smartness! I am excited!
3. After some difficult years, where I have done almost no reading and very little writing, my writer brain is coming back out of hibernation. I'm starting to get story ideas again. Which is exciting. And scary. I'm not sure yet what to do with these ideas, and I'm not sure where to find the time to play with them. But I'm glad to know that my writer brain is still working, that it's been quietly filing away thoughts and ideas for another time. That time may be coming soon. I think all the reading I've been doing has helped, so many thanks to all the authors who have captivated and challenged me and to the publishers and agents who have championed them. Your words make a difference in my life, and I am grateful!
