1. A new year. A fresh start. A chance to look back (2017 was bumpy around these parts, for so many reasons) and to look forward to what 2018 brings. Here are my hopes: good health, a new car, less debt, a happy boyfriend, and a well-rested cat. And of course, lots of tasty cake.
2. After a crazy and hectic year, we got to celebrate the end of 2017 and beginning of 2018 in a fun, calm, and safe way. No big parties or large groups of people. Just a small dinner party with one of our favorite dishes (my boyfriend's should-be-famous-because-it's-that-good baked ziti and some Forged in Fire reruns and finally trying out the game Bears vs. Babies. Much fun, good friends, frosted brownies, and a variety of alcohols to enjoy. A very successful New Year's Eve!
3. After struggling for the last month with stressful situations at work and with holidays, the last week or two has finally slowed down. I feel like I can think again, and I can breathe, and I can take care of things. It's nice not to feel overwhelmed any more, and my main goal for 2018 is to keep that calm mindset and to move through struggles with confidence, mindfulness, and peace.
