1. A couple of my favorite cooking shows premiered this week. Bravo's Top Chef, now with Chef Graham Elliot, an addition I am very excited about. And ABC's The Great British Baking Show, the American take-off on the Great British Bake-Off. It's not the same as the original, but it does still have the amazing Mary Berry, so I will take it. These are definitely making me happy this week.
2. Last night, I got a chance to see Chef Marcus Samuelsson in person, at an event sponsored by our local food pantry. It was so phenomenal to see him live and hear him talk about his restaurant, his influences, his family, his food, and his ideas. He was so down-to-earth and genuine. The more I learn about him, the more I read of him, the more I admire him. Still looking for a Christmas gift for a foodie in your life? Go to Amazon and look him up. On my book blog, I just talked about his memoir and his latest cookbook, The Red Rooster Cookbook. Both are fantastic.
3. There is one thing that is not making me very happy this week. I lost my uncle in his battle against his health problems. It wasn't a surprise, but it was still a blow. He was a good man, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be dearly missed. However, even in this, or maybe especially in this, I am so grateful for my family and friends, for those who fill my life and my heart with love, light, and laughter. I love you, and I am grateful to have you in my life.
