1. This has been a better week. I got lots done, and with yesterday's ice and snow, spent the day at home getting caught up and rested. Just what I needed. I can finish the year feeling on top of things instead of buried underneath them.

2. I am thankful for good friends. My boyfriend's best friend was in town all week, and we got to hang out with him late last week, which was lots of fun. We got to eat excellent food and saw Rogue One. I got to have some (albeit) short conversations with some of my best friends, and it just felt good to reconnect in a busy time. I am hoping that 2017 brings some more face-to-face visits with some of my favorite people.

3. As it is the season for Christmas baking, I am so grateful to have so many great cooks and mentors to rely on. Joanne Chang's Flour cookbook is one of my go-to books for cookie recipes, and this year I have added Dorie Greenspan's Dorie's Cookies as well. Add to that hours of ideas and instruction from my favorite celebrity bakers like Duff Goldman, Elizabeth Falkner (who I actually got to meet this year!!), and British Baking Show maestros Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. I am a lucky, happy girl!
