currently reading: I am reading Invisible Strings, an anthology of contemporary poetry inspired by the songs of Taylor Swift. It’s moving and painful and powerful, the way poetry is. The way Swift’s music is. It would be a fantastic holiday gift for Swift fans who focus on the beauty of her lyrics and mine them for meaning.
I’m also reading How to Get a Life in Ten Dates. Haleigh Berkshire is a plus-sized woman (or as some may say, a woman) who is exhausted with dating. She’s been dating for a decade, and she hasn’t had much luck. So she decides to ask her family and friends for help. She agrees to go on ten dates that they arrange for her. But when her best friend from college throws himself into the mix, all best are off.
I’m still reading I Might Be in Trouble, which came out last week. It had some similarities to last week’s The Close-Up, in that it’s also about a writer struggling to com up with a second book. He wakes up to a dead man in his bed. And while that’s obviously a bad thing, it might also turn into a great novel.
I’m also still reading Believe, about Ted Lasso. Seriously, a perfect holiday gift for anyone who loves the show and wants to know all the things about how it came together. It’s such a fun read!
up next: I don’t know. Right now, I’m just trying to survive December. Between the holidays and family and work, it’s a lot. And that’s if my car decides to start again one of these days. But I did win this in a Goodreads giveaway. I listen to Scamfluencers most weeks, so I was familiar with Scaachi Koul. I haven’t read her first memoir (it’s on my list), but I am looking forward to her new one, coming out next March.
