chronic existential dread punctuated by moments of great fun

When life is difficult and you want some cartoon animals to understand your pain, then you need some Poorly Drawn Lines. This comic, drawn by Reza Farazmand, is all about the existential dread of everyday life, but told with heart, humor, sarcasm, and the occasional swear word.

Adorable animals talk to each other about the challenges they face every day. Running from your problems? Walking is easier. Feel empty? Eat food. You can try buying yourself a notebook that is too nice to write in. Or you can make a to-do list of all the things that you’re not doing. Maybe you can find simple ways to improve yourself, like: go to bed earlier. Find, like, $30,000. And drink more water.

If you think this is where things get weird, then you would be wrong. Things have been weird for a while. This is where things continue in that direction.

A bird with a cigarette (unlit). A turtle in a beret. A snail with a rocket to Mars that has no roof because he bought it on the internet. And they all have the same existential dread that we all face, along with moments of connection, humor, oddness, anxiety, and hopefulness. It’s the perfect antidote for reality, and an ideal gift for anyone experiencing some existential dread, including you.

Egalleys for Hope It All Works Out were provided by Andrews McMeel through Edelweiss, with many thanks.
