just finished: Eric Idle’s The Spamalot Diaries. It’s his diary from when he was writing and they were staging Spamalot, and it’s very entertaining. If you’re someone who loves a Broadway backstory, or a huge Monty Python fan, then you might want to check this one out. Lots of name-dropping, but also so much joy about how the show came together.
currently reading: I’m reading Surrounded by Liars, part of Thomas Erikson’s series of books that describes people through a handful of traits. Ironically, this one was actually released on Election Day. He uses colors to categorize people as Dominant, Inspiring, Stable, and Conscientious. Most people are a combination of colors/traits, but looking at the broader picture can make it easier to see our differences and how we might better understand each other and work together. He originally introduced this way to think of people in Surrounded by Idiots, and he’s written nine books in this series, offering up help or getting along with bad bosses and protecting yourself from narcissists.
I’m also reading Pickleballers, a rom com set in the world of Pickleball. And I’m reading Guilt and Ginataan by Mia P. Manasala. This is book 5 in her popular Tita Rosie’s Kitchen Mystery, and so far it’s corny. It’s the town’s corn festival, and Lila and her crew are working a booth at the festival, selling coffee and corn treats. But when a local politician’s wife is found dead in the middle of the corn maze, and Adeena is holding the knife, Lila knows she has to jump in and figure out who the real killer is before her best friend goes away for murder.
I’m also still reading The Rivals. There is a lot going on in this book, and I am all in on this story. When I have time to sit and read it, I am immersed. I’m just struggling to find the time. But when I do, it’s so worth it. I can’t wait to watch the miniseries when I get through the book!
up next: at some point, I need to start reading all those Christmas books I’ve been threatening, and I think I’m finally in the holiday spirit. I’ve seen the M&Ms commercial with Santa, so it’s officially the holiday season. He does exist! They do exist!
