just finished: I got lucky with a couple of quick reads this week. Maybe Swearing Will Help is a collection of cross-stitch patterns with lots of snark and swear words. It’s a lot of fun, perfect for your ragey crafty friends. I also read Why Are You Like This? by cartoonist Meg Adams, who is known on the internet as ArtbyMoga. The book is a collection of her cartoons about being married, about their two dogs, and just about the ups and downs of being a human on earth. It’s sweet and funny and revealing, and I am telling you that she is one to keep to an eye on.

currently reading: I am listening to an amazing thriller on audio, What Lies in the Woods. Three girls were 11 when they went into the woods and only 2 came out. The third one pulled herself out, having been stabbed several times. It’s a miracle that she survived. A local serial killer was accused and convicted of the crime, and he was sent to prison. Now, he’s died from cancer, and the women are back together. Naomi, the one who had been stabbed, has come back to the small town where they grew up for the first time in a long time. Olivia wants to come clean, now that he’s died. And Cassidy doesn’t want to. Naomi is torn between wanting to tell the truth and wanting it to stay hidden. But what if the truths they all carry are not the same? What if one could destroy them all? What Lies in the Woods is amazing, and I can’t wait to see how it ends.

I’m also reading a couple of cozy mysteries out this week. The first one is Laura Childs’s Lemon Curd Killer, where a murder disrupts a Limon Tea set at a fashion show in Charleston, and tea shop owner Theodosia Browning has to find the killer. In Till Death Do Us Port, sommelier Parker Valentine has to solve a murder of a wedding planner, at the wedding. There are beverages, there are events, there is murder. It’s a theme, lol.

up next: I was fortunate enough to score an early copy of Jenn McKinlay’s Summer Reading, and I am really looking forward to curling up with it. There is a chef, there is a library, there is a character with dyslexia. I think this will be another fun, well-written romcom, and I am so ready!
