Despite having a 3-day weekend for lots of reading, I didn’t get much reading done. We watched soccer and football, Loki and Ted Lasso, and the very first season of The Great British Bake-Off (they moved the tent from city to city! Loved that!). But I didn’t get much reading done. Honestly, I needed that. But I’m wanting to get back to it. I mean, there are so many amazing books coming out in January, so I want to jump in. But there’s still another week to this year, so let’s get through this week first. It will be another busy week at work, but it’s winding down. So let’s talk books.

currently reading: The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. It’s so much fun! I’m also reading On the Plus Side, a rom com about a plus-sized woman who wins a makeover on a reality show. It’s a little like Queer Eye, in that they’re making changes to her whole life, but it’s specifically for those who feel overlooked because they are overweight. Look for this one starting tomorrow.

I’m also reading The Weekend Retreat, about a wealthy family who head to the winery/country estate to celebrate a birthday, and things do not go as planned. I can’t wait to see what happens!

I’ve also started my new year re-reading of Bridget Jones, because who doesn’t love Mr. Darcy in a Christmas sweater and office hijinks messaging with the boss?

And as a bonus, late last week I got a copy of the audio book for Snowed in for Christmas. It’s a fun rom com about a young house mother for college girls and the grumpy coach who lives next door. They had forecast a bad snowstorm, but Becca wasn’t prepared for the electricity to go out. So she moves in with grumpy coach Harrison until the power comes back on, and I just sit back and wait for the sparks to fly.

And also out this week, watch for book three in the Deep Dish Mystery series, Public Anchovy #1. I love this series, and I hope I get a chance to dip into this book this book this week, but the way things have been lately, I can’t make promises. Soon though. Because: pizza!

up next: the new Rachel Hawkins, The Heiress. This is going to be one of the big books for January, so watch for it! You won’t want to miss it.
