That was a rough week. My coworker left her job unexpectedly, giving us only days to come up with a new plan, and then my boss managed to hire someone quickly, so I got distracted by training. But I did start a new release that I never got to talk about, so I’m hoping to do that tomorrow. (Although I do have a dentist appointment tomorrow afternoon, so I hope I’ll be able to recover enough to write tomorrow night).

currently reading: The Darkness of Others by Cate Holahan. This one is a little crazy. It takes place in New York City at the height of the pandemic. a Hollywood director is killed and his wife is missing. The police think the wife killed the husband and disappeared, but her best friend, Imani, doesn’t believe for a minute that Melissa would leave her daughter. As she does a little poking around, she finds that the answer to who the killer is might be a lot closer than she thought. It’s creepy and smart and is bringing back a lot of lockdown feelings. But it’s good, and I can’t wait to find out the ending! I also started reading Two Parts Sugar, One Part Murder. A woman is left at the altar while livestreaming her wedding and needs a new start. When her great-aunt passes away, Maddy finds that she is the sole recipient in her will. Maddy has been left a house and a bakery in New Bison, Michigan, and she is determined to live her best life there. But it seems that small-town politics can be deadly, and Maddy will need to solve the case to keep her new start. I am absolutely loving this one so far. It’s so readable, and it’s funny and fun, and I wish I didn’t have a list of things I still need to do tonight before I curl up with this book again. Loving it!

I also got lucky this week because Minotaur Books sent me this. Actually, I am planning on listening to this one because I also just got approved for an early copy of the audio book. But the newest Vera? Yes, please! Love the books, love the show, love it all.
