currently reading: A lot of things came up at the end of last week, but I was still able to get a little bit of reading done. I’ve started Drop Dead Gorgeous, which comes out Tuesday. It’s sort of a Freaky Friday story, where a women who grew up in Texas with a very churchy mother ends up in the body of a rich socialite. I’ve only read a little so far, but I think it’s going to be a hoot. I’ve also started reading Lessons in Chemistry, that came out recently. A woman who is a research chemist ends up with a cooking show, and it changes her life. Again, I’m not too far in yet, but it’s funny already. I can’t wait to read more!
But for tomorrow, we are talking the love language of those of us from Kansas City, but also Texas, Tennessee, St. Louis, Ashville, and so many other places that have adopted barbecue as their own (including L.A., obviously, as this chef is out of Compton). I’ve started reading Bludso’s BBQ Cookbook, which has so much heart and so many stories about Kevin Bludso and his family. And delicious recipes!
up next: Tuesday the 26th I am scheduled for oral surgery, so I will be trying to read ahead for that. Jennifer McMahon’s newest, The Children on the Hill, comes out that day, so I’m trying to get it read this week. I loved, loved, loved her The Drowning Kind, a creepy thriller with a supernatural element to it, so I can’t wait to dig into her newest one. But you know, it’s also just a couple of weeks away from May, so you know what that means. It’s Summer Book Time! Bring them on!
