just finished: nothing. I spent more time with Netflix than books this weekend, and it’s been just what I needed.

currently reading: I’m halfway through Hopeless Romantic by Marina Adair, which is adorable. In the small town of Rome, Rhode Island, a young woman who runs her own business as well as helping care for her autistic brother flirts with a young man who gave up his dreams of sailing in order to help with the family restaurant and marina as well as his niece. So basically, two really busy people who care deeply for their families but also want to find success in business flirt with each other (and let’s face it, belong together!) in this sweet rom com. I am loving it! And apparently autistic siblings is the theme this week, as Sally Hepworth’s The Good Sister is out on Tuesday, and I’m about a third of the way to that one. Fern and Rose are twin sisters, raised by a challenging single mother, and Rose took it upon herself early to start looking out for Fern, who didn’t have the social skills to look out for herself. Now, Rose wants a baby but can’t have one, and Fern is thinking about having a baby for Rose. Alternate chapters take you into each sister’s life for a first-person account of their thoughts, feelings, hopes, and nightmares. This is a truly fascinating way to see the world, told by a masterful storyteller. I also started my new Alexander McCall Smith, Your Inner Hedgehog, and this new collections of stories is just as charming as the other stories about romance linguist Professor Dr. Dr. Moritz-Maria Von Igelfeld and his friends.

up next: Cookbooks! Out the week after next (4/20) are the new cookbooks from Eric Ripert and Nigella Lawson, and I am so excited about those! I did a quick Google search to see if I could find a picture of the two of them together, and I didn’t see one right away, but there several photos of both of them with their mutual friend Anthony Bourdain, who also has a book coming out on the 20th. I don’t have an early copy of this one, so I don’t know when I’ll be able to add it to my blog, but I did want to make mention of it here, so fans of Bourdain (isn’t that, like, “everyone”?) will be aware and pre-order or order it however you like to get your books. This is going to be a good one, of that I am certain!
