just finished: Crushing It, a romcom about a game developer who faces her fear of public speaking by entering a bar contest where entrants read from the journals and poetry they wrote as teens, trying to embarrass themselves. In public. On purpose. And The Safe Place, which comes out Tuesday. An actor, down on her luck, accepts a job as a housekeeper/assistant for his boss’s wife, who lives on a gorgeous but remote estate in France. What could possibly go wrong? This thriller is out Tuesday, and as you can see below, DonDon is a big fan of the book.

currently reading: I’m still listening to A Taste of Sage. I didn’t spend much time on audio books last week, but there is a whole new week in front of me. I’m also reading The Golden Cage, a Swedish thriller about a wealthy woman and her husband, and the things from her past that got her where she is. It’s by Camilla Lackberg, and it’s beautiful. Dark, but beautiful. I also just started A Sweet Mess, about a baker who gets tangled up with a food critic. Yes, it’s another romcom, and so far it is just adorable. Watch for it out Tuesday also!

up next: Out this week, Make Russia Great Again is the newest novel by Christopher Buckley. I first discovered Buckley through The White House Mess, so I am a big fan of his political satires. Supreme Courtship, Boomsday, No Way To Treat a First Lady—I have loved them all. I love his other books as well. Little Green Men introduced me to a whole world of conspiracy and craziness, and Thank You For Smoking is a classic. But I still go back to his political works as my favorites. This one is a (fake) memoir from Herb Nutterman, President Trumps’s seventh Chief of Staff, and I can feel in my bones that I am going to love it. I can’t wait to read it!
