recently finished: Um, nothing. Still in the middle of lots of things. It’s been that kind of month. Although I will be finished my car audiobook in a day or two. It’s The Haunted Bookshop by Christopher Morley, and it’s a little bonkers. It was written a hundred years ago, so it’s dated, but it’s also fascinating. The main character is a bookseller, and there is a large part of the book that is him waxing philosophical about books and bookselling. If you’re not into that, you may not love this book. But I am having a lot of fun with it. Bonus: he talks about Don Marquis, the creator of Archy and Mehitabel. If you don’t know Archy, you should google that. I found them when I was in junior high, just wandering through the stacks of my local library, and I immediately fell in love with the lot of them. And I’m not generally one to fall in love with a cockroach.

currently reading: I’m still reading Anything for You, which is a fascinating thriller. I am watching the pieces of the story come together in most delightful ways. I’m also reading Catfishing on CatNet. Wow! A teenage girl who moves around a lot with her mom (abusive father/ex-husband), and whose only consistent friends are on an internet site called CatNet. But what she doesn’t know at first is that one of the admins of the site is an AI with secrets of their own. I’m only about a third of the way in, but it’s a really good one, I can tell!

I’ve also been reading Saint X, which is another thriller out early next year. A family goes on vacation on a perfect, small, beautiful Caribbean island named Saint X. Mother, father, teenaged daughter and younger daughter. But their teenaged daughter doesn’t come back home with them. She is killed on the island, and nothing is the same for the family or for many of those who live on the previously thought safe island. It’s beautifully written, and a book you should keep in mind for next February!

up next: Trace of Evil, another thriller that’s getting lots of good buzz! And a cookbook about macaroons. Yum!
