Recently finished: Not much, it feels like. Been feeling a little slumpy. But I'm focusing on cookbooks this week, so I'll have more to say about that over the next few days. I know I've mentioned this one before, but Alton Brown's EveryDayCook really is a fabulous cookbook. He's out on book tour right now, and if you get the chance to see him, go. He was in town last Friday, and he was so entertaining! Telling jokes, answering questions, heckling the audience. And spreading good news: 1. Good Eats (or some version of it anyway) is coming back, in the form of internet shows. and 2. Iron Chef America is coming back. I am excited!! Also, if you're into podcasts, he dropped one last week about the cookbook. Lots of interesting background info.
Currently reading: The French Chef in America, which I've just started and am loving already. It's like a continuation of her My Life in France. Her co-author on that one picks this one up seamlessly, and I can't wait to read about all of Chef's adventures after the publication of Mastering the Art of French Cooking. I'm also still listening the The Girl on the Train (which I strongly recommend--the audio version is fantastic!). And still reading The Secret Ingredient of Wishes and a quirky collection of short stories called Bedlam & Belfry, Intergalactic Attorneys at Law.
Up next: Eileen. A Man with One of Those Faces. And any one or two of the other 600 books I keep saying I want to read next. Like I said, slumpy. Hopefully that will pass soon.
